My lovely red cap oranda (I think!) has suddenly developed white patches (not spots) on his fins and also some red streaking, and splits. I did a 25% water change yesterday which has perked him up but I dont know what meds to put in the water. Please dont ask me for water stats as I dont do it. It isnt white spot the other fish seems fine, could be stress? dont know any suggestions welcome x

you can just about make out the patches, and red streaks. they are quite bad but you have to look closely.

Went to MA today, expecting to just get some plants or some algae wafers for my apple snails. But ended up coming home with this beautiful Ranchu.

I was going to get two, but he seemed to be the only one swimming well, the other fish had their butts up in the air and seemed to be having difficulty breathing with their mouths constantly open.

Anyway, he's beautiful and settling in well, if not a bit shy. He's eating tetrafin Gold Japan sinking pellets, though I was told to only feed him ...

All day one of the male has been chasing her up and down the sides and i just went to switch the light of and noticed them. I did try to take a vid but it was scaring them so i stopped. Ones they have finished im going to scrape the eggs of and put them in a breeding trap.

Iv now noticed another one of my albino cory's have red on its body but not as much as the one that was dead this morning...have they been fighting or is it something more serious??

Heres a picture so you can see (a bit blurry) The red is quite close to the tail.

The albino one keeps kinda nudging and swimming round the peppered cory, but the peppered cory also does it to the albino so thats why i suppose looks like they are dancing...very cute!

The albino is bigger than the peppered cory.

Is it that they are friends or is it because they are a male and female??

I know white spot comes when fish are stressed, but my fancy fish have been acting weird, on inspection they have velvet so I treated the whole tank for that. The smallest one looked like he had white spot not velvet but I think white spot and velvet dust look same. Anyway he looks even worse so I have removed him to a qt tank. Treated him yesterday with w, spot meds and got to do it again in 3 days. Anything else I can do as he sure is cute..

There is horrid multicoloured sharp gravel in there at the moment, the choices are get some play sand cheap or use up pea gravel have left over that the cories would plan breeding have already in use in their home tank?

My platinums were doing so well. Really growing up. Unfortunately, I think the little quarantine tank just got too much for them and they developed whitespot, probably as a result of the stress of the small tank. I don't know why else they might have got it. Started treatment a couple of days ago but no improvement at all. In fact, a couple of them have nearly given up.

I was hoping to add them to my community tank soon, but they've instead been moved in to the other 65 litre ...

It's one of my older neons. About 8 months old.

The colouration is still fantastic, still eating pretty well, still shoaling, still sleeping at the bottom with the other, still keeping weight on . . .

But

It's darting up and down. Quite a small motion, and not actually that eratic. Definitely not zooming around as some fish do when they are on death's door. Looks like it is sinking a bit, then pulling itself back up, then sinking.

Ok, so just got off the phone from another LFS. They said they will try and get them in for me soon.

A few questions;

1.) Price?
2.) How many are needed so they are not stressed?
3.) Do they only eat Algea Wafers?
4.) Do the breed easily?

Hope someones able to help

While gazing into Cosmo's tank just now I noticed something weird...

an itsy bitsy fish!

My danios must've laid eggs when they were in there, and this guys just now decided to put in an appearence, unfortunately I can't find him right now, and he's prime size to become a Cosmo snack so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this little guy will reappear soon! Will try and get pictures once I've caught him n_n
