goldfish

Post by liz2 on Sat Aug 08, 2009 9:34 pm

I rescued my grand kids goldfish about 2 weeks ago. They have had him for 4 years, and he was quite well looked after but my grandson cracked the tank so I was going to put him in my pond. He is lively and big but he has white spots on his tail. It hasnt got worse in the time I have had him, I have put aqua salt in the water but am loath to treat him as I dont really know what it is. Trouble is I really need the tank, could put him in a smaller one but it doesnt seem fair! What could I treat him with that is not to strong and treats multitude of things?

As CeeJayy said, is it Ich (whitespot)? It normally starts on the fins. Are the spots raised?

No problem,

Does its tail look like it has been sprinkled in salt?

yes but with white spot it looks as if you could brush it off, these are actually in the tail...cant really explain it. going to do a bit of research

definately sounds like white spot hun - a lot of fish get it just on their fins
i would treat with a white spot treatment - this way if you're going to use the tank in the future you are helping to kill off any that are in your tank
