Heavily Pregnant Molly

Post by Captain_Jim57 on Fri Aug 28, 2009 12:21 am

Hey, apparently my betta's gave up with the breeding, they didn't seem interested anymore, so I moved them to my other tanks (15 and 20 gallon) anyways, my black molly is 7 months old, and hugely pregnant! I put her in the 5 gallon tank to have her babies, there's lots of plants, air pump, filter, heater, gravel, etc, so she should be fine in there until she gives birth right? She looks pretty square and has a white tube near her anal fin, I looked at her from above and she looks really fat, her stomach sticks right out, she looks like she's gonna pop! I only have one male molly in the tank, and she's never been pregnant before, he's a silver sailfin molly, and she's a black molly, so I can't wait to see what the babies look like!

Here she is:

I put a hood (from my old 20 gallon) it hangs over the sides, but it covers all the tank, so no breeze can get in from my fan, and I put a light on it too from my 2 gallon tank, but if I left the light on during the day, she wouldn't get overheated would she? would the temp still stay the same from my heater? My heater says it keeps a constant temp of 78 C, if the light was on would it make it hotter? or would it be ok still? anyone know?

Just checked her now, still no babies, she's very "irritated" I guess you can say, keeps darting up and down the corners of the tank,..
