Well he may not be in the mood for it! They do need time to settle in first of all, Calcifer made one 2 weeks after having him and then never again, whereas Reno made one that day! Things floating at the top help like over hanging leaves, floating plants. Breeders I believe use squares of bubble wrap to give a sturdy base for the nest to form. Dont worry though, not all will make them it does not mean they are any less happy or anything like that!

Oh, I thought it meant he wasn't happy, all I want is for him to enjoy his tank.
I'm getting a divider off ebay and then I'm going to rescue a blue veiltail off my friend.

Dont worry about a thing hon! He is happy I am sure, bubblenests are one way to show they are happy but not essential. Some just dont make them
Aw that be great sweets, is the VT in poor condition or unwanted?

He has a few nips, and he's closing down the tank, so I said that I would take him.

lol, I'm hoping he'll start flaring a bit more as he doesn't even seem interested in the mirror, he yawned at it yesterday and then he swam off.

Re: Bubblenest
Ok, I had peas for dinner so I decided to give him half of one, he gobbled it up straight away and was swimming around with it in his mouth, like a dog with a bone.
All gone now and I have deshelled loads of cooked peas and stored them in the fridge for future use.
