Re: Apistogramma Agassizii
im going to try a trio of guppys in with them i got them last night and put them in the breeding trap for a few days so the apisto get use to them hopefully. its a short fin male so hopefully the apisto wont nip its tail. they seem fine with them they where displaying a bit at the start but they seem to of calmed down no but im going to leave thm in there for a few more days just to be sure.

Re: Apistogramma Agassizii
the apisto really hated the guppys and one of the males and a female died but i got 2 more females and 2 more males (2m 3f) and i have them in a 5g and im droping the tank temp by 1c every other day untill there cold enough to go in the biord thats cold water but never gose below 15c at nigh in the winter and is about 20c in the day so they will be fine in that.

i got 5 serpae tetras to go with them in exchange for my mollys and platys from my 30g. the female apisto dosnt mind them and the male keeps chacing them away but not trying to bit them he just dont want them near him but there better with these than with the guppys.
i got a few pics but there on my phone and they wouldnt stop moving around so there not to good

Re: Apistogramma Agassizii
there both getting big now the female is 2" and the male is 3" and there fine with the tetras they still get the odd chase if they get to close when there feeding. there starting to settle down now though after adding the tetras so hopefully they might spawn aging soon they havent in a while and hopefully they wont eat them this time. :]

Re: Apistogramma Agassizii
That's good that they are calming down. We had some German rams with the kribs and everything was fine until the kribs started breeding. They were really good parents other than killing off the tank mates when they started getting territorial.
We had quite a few babies survive even though we weren't trying to breed, ended up selling them all to the LFS.

I manged to get another female aswell they seem to have calmed down alot and dont really attack anything in the tank evan the pygmy corys. I really dont like kribs there extreamly agressive when big and breeding. You should never keep rams and kribs together for 2 reasons 1) rams are New World Cichlids and kribs are African / Old World Cichlids They dont mix well and 2) rams need to be kept at between 28-32C and kribs need to be between 24-26C

Ahh good to know!! And I was busy and school so I wasn't sure what happened to the rams. Turns out by boyfriend caught was happening before they got injured and sold them back to the LFS

Re: Apistogramma Agassizii
I just found one of the females dead. I dont have a clue why it looks perfectly healthy apart from a few nipped fins but that was properly after death. Ive got a feeling it was my older female that has spawned with the male so thats a little anoying.

Re: Apistogramma Agassizii
I think the 2 females might of had a fight the one left loos a little nipped on the fins so i recone she might have bullied the other to death because there ways some chunks of fin missing on the other one. It doesnt look like it was a disease or illness that killed it.
