females fighting?

Post by CraigBaines on Thu Sep 03, 2009 5:14 pm

ok well hmm, my brother just came round and said to me, is that fish dead?

well i was looking, and she was still moving, but is lying on the bottom, somtimes upside down, her fins are a bit battered and im compleatly lost as too why, the three females have been living together for a while now, no problems....

but there was one who did seem to be attacking her just as i noticed.

Well iv divided the small tank i have one in, and dropped her in there.

Only have about 2 and a half G each, but there babies so its not too bad, trouble is i have no more tanks so i need her to go back in with the females! lol

what could of caused this? It wasnt even the biggest female who seemed to be the aggresive one....

it's mostly the ones that are lower in the pecking order that fight , the bigger more dominant ones dont - how many females are in together hun

before you reintroduce her you need to remove all females together for an hour - rearrange the tank then add them all back at the same time

Cause could be anything - has anything changed in the tank at all ? added any new girls in the last 2 weeks ?

nothing has changed...

there are 3, there all still young, sister's.

there one a fair bit bigger, then these two who i think were fighting, they look identical, the one who seems hurt is probally a tiny bit smaller though.

I hope she will recover, she at the top now, resting against the fake rock background. At least she's on her own now, im going to leave her out and let her fins grow back, its just they dont have as much room as i like now iv had to seperate her.

Looking abit tatty Sad

you need more than 3 girls Craig thats the problem - or a larger tank - 3 girls on there own need a lot of space to set up individual territorys

If you can get 3 more girls and go for a larger sorority then that would be better if not seperate the girls - tubs would be fine
