Re: Algae or...?
I think someone said a while ago that it had to do with doing lots of water changes and lighting. If you get some airline you could suction it off the surface.
We get it sometimes in our containers that we have babies in and presume it happens there because we are water changing every other day.

Yeah that's fine hun....I think it's just one of those things and maybe the lighting is the main cause. How long do you have your lights on for?

Re: Algae or...?
I turn them on when I get up for school at 6:45 A.M. and turn them off at about 10:00 P.M.

Re: Algae or...?
I would try a little less....we don't normally turn any light on until late afternoon. So maybe switch yours on when you get home from school until 10.00pm and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Algae or...?
Ok....good luck and hopefully it was just a lighting issue which can be solved really easily. Let us know if it makes any difference

Re: Algae or...?
Looks like diatoms (brown algae) to me, which is sometimes associated to the last stages of a tank which is undergoing a cycle. I've seen outbreaks of the stuff occur while cycling my filtered tanks, but after awhile it subsided and all I've got now is a bit of green algae here and there. It's entirely possible that it's due to lighting, although you might want to look into instability with your water parameters.
