QT jars

Post by Assaye on Thu Sep 17, 2009 1:52 pm

I've got three more bettas coming tomorrow and Orion is currently in the QT tank (silly ill boy, lol). My plan is to put my glass jars in one of the empty tanks, fill that tank with water (just up to the top of the jars) and then get a heater running in that water to keep the jars warm. I know it's not ideal, but it'll only be for a week. Do you think this would be OK? The new marble will get a 20 litre section of my divided tank, Shower (he is called Shower, isn't he Netty?) will get either a good section in my boyfriend's tank or a 14 gallon to himself (temporarily) and the new girl will get the same.

I feel bad putting them in jars but I figure as long as they are warm and I change the water frequently, they'll be fine for a week (if a little bored). Orion should be out of the QT soon anyway.

Showers, that was it. To be honest, it really suits him. I was thinking Caspar for him (so I could have Balthazar, Caspar and Melchior). He could have that as his 'posh' name and still be Showers at home <3

Little Ffinsan is known as Tatty by the family, lol, so having two names can work.

I think I've worked out a solution. It's not ideal, but it does mean no-one has to be in a jar. Got my boyfriend's tank up and running with my spare, cycled filter, and put a divider in it so the two from Ebay (same seller) can go in together and Showers can go in the QT, as I've moved Orion as I do think he's better. He's in with Ffin now and has perked up loads not that he's got a new environment and someone to flare at. Got him and Ffin on a 1/3 dose of the meds as I think it'll help stave off finrot while Ffin regrows his fins. How many times can I can fit 'fin' in the same sentence?

Still got the option to use jars if you think doing that is a bad idea?

Lol....we have a female the same colour as him so they were Sunshine & Showers :lol!:

The alternative would give them more room...just make sure the QT is really well scubbed out....but that should work fine thumbup
