Budget Lighting
What do you guys have to light your aquariums (especially for live plants) and what about budgets? Any recommendations recommended.
Here is one I found, was thinking of two what do you think?

That lamp looks pretty good
Nice and compact, so should fit nicely under a hood:) Good price too

We have some of those marina lights on a hub. Alright for effects and will probably use one for our next spawn, so the male can see the nest at night

Re: Budget Lighting
Well ordered two of those above and hope the 18w will be good between the two lamps for me plants, the hub will definately be good for poor fishies
Aw that is a great idea for the male spawn Van, good for the daddy!

Re: Budget Lighting
It is always the way, I have been on a fairly tight budget and pleased with the results. Filter £14, Heater £8, Dividers (homemade) £7, Plants £15, Sand £6, Initial Lights £12, reordered lights £12, total of about £75 oh and a new extension so about £90 max to set up tank completely ( I think I did well except the mistake on lighting). No probs hon, apparently posted tomorrow so arrive shortly and give the lowdown

Re: Budget Lighting
Mm, well my next tank is to be my 42l I found in the loft, I already have a spare bag of play sand (but I might get gravel anyway- I prefer it) and the heater I already have so I just need a filter, lights a lid and plants. (Any tips on a lid, btw, I'm baffled as to what I can use for this
)

Re: Budget Lighting
A lid, try a condensation tray? They sell those pretty cheap can be cut to size and it can just rest on top of the tank. They also do sell the clearseal black plastic lids online for varying sizes, though these arent the cheapest option. How big cm/inches is the 42litre hon? Plants I can fully recommend Daz, seriously looking at Ebay and trying Ebay his are the best quality and I have found one of the cheapest. For a cheap filter what size would you need as can help you scout there.

Re: Budget Lighting
Little update my lights appeared super fast, the bracket you have to drill and nail somewhere but my partner kindly sealanted it for me and we will see how this goes. Tested the lights themselves they seem pretty good, good strong light and MUCH better than what I currently have so hopefully the two of them will be enough for lush plants
Will post piccy once they are in xx
