I've got two of them... they do the job nicely as long as you run central heating in winter.
According to box...
7.5 watt in 8ltrs gives 2.5degrees c increase on room temp.
in 20ltrs 2 deg increase
15watt in 20ltr gives 2.5 deg increase
40ltr 2 deg increase
I find the 15 watt one keeps my 25ltr tank at 25 degrees consistantly and the 7.5 watt one keeps my 14ltr tank at 24 degrees. I'd expect you'd get a slight increase of heat if buried in gravel as the gravel once warm would help maintain the heat.
