Post by Lairewen on Thu Oct 15, 2009 12:23 pm

When it all seems to be going wrong! of my 6 bettas, 3 are giving me grief! Isn't fishkeeping supposed to be RELAXING?!

Who said that :lol!: They do keep you on your toes and if you had a little shoal of fish going backwards and forwards you'd soon get bored :lol!:

I think Betta keeping is really hard and skilled. My tropical tank with my mollies in just get on with it...I hardly look at them. Whereas my bettas get talked to played with and I just love them to bits!

I think keeping one or two is easy... anymore is hard work, more so when they get fin nipped or sick then they can be total chaos... nothing worse than having 3-4 males ill nevermind if with various under the weather syptoms... can't treat them as a group, seperate tanks.

the hospital tanks can build up fast lol

But at same time... bettas are special... anyone have an angelfish who'll come and say hello and want some fuss?

LOL...there you go see...you just can't resist them!!

I know what it's like though....the waterboard flushed stuff through last winter and for about 3 weeks we were waking up to dead babies every day. It was soul destroying and very nearly made me give up with the breeding but then you just keep getting that urge again lol

I am ok if I go in a fish shop and the bettas dont make eye contact with me! If they look at me or look ill thats that!

Every winter the water board put different chemicals into the water and it can affect fish.
