Why did my shrimp die?

I went to get the shrimp today to put them in a bigger tank and there both dead, they've turned orange and stink, how come they died? The fish didnt bully them and they seemed fine? There was onyl 2 of them though so next time i get them again which will be next week should i buy a group of say 5?

what are your water states?
and what temp is the tank?
there really fussy with waters stats and like colder water.

temp - 80
I cant test the water
I was told the temp at which i keep my bettas owuld be an ok temp

have you used any treatments in the tank recently, a lot of shrimp are intolerant to aquarium treatments

nope i havent put anything atall in the tank not even salt. Alphie who shared a tank with them is still his usuall happy self so whatever they died of didnt affect him?

I know this is probably a silly question but how much did you pay for them? I just wondered whether they sold you river shrimp?

Ive had my bamboo shrimp die they went pink, I think it was a temperature thing, I believe the temp in my tank was too warm for them just as when you cook raw blue prawns they turn pink....
