Zebra Plecs
What do you guys think? I love the look of these plecs and someone has just contacted me with a price tag of £40 a fish and delivery £16.50 special courier (which is extremely good as only ones lcoal £150 plus!) I would dearly love to get a pair but was thinking of trying one out (not sure if pockets can stretch to two) and would love to breed them not for money but these really are plecs I have fallen in love with. Just wondered your thoughts lol. We would put them in the community tank (only corys to contend with on their level) so hopefully would do well, apparently cant breed for the first two years so time to sort a breeding tank out in the meantime.

Re: Zebra Plecs
Hi amy
have you had any plecs before? as zebra plecs really are for the experienced pleco keeper as they earge you to breed them because of their rareity. So if you were able to breed them when they were ready that would be great for you and the species :D
Not sure if they would suit a community aquarium, i know a man who kept one in a community simualr to what you have described and his did okay.
Hope this helps

Re: Zebra Plecs
I have only babysat some bristlenoses for Melly but have read lots into them and am gaining lots of views and opinons. I would love to breed (if there are any fish to breed it would be these) simply because of the beauty of them, so would for their gain not mine. These are just so fab. I shall consider more before committing, thanks for the input Nath! (p.s. realise these are carniverious not algae eaters and also they will not fight or food.
)

Re: Zebra Plecs
Well i hope you do go for them
just thought i would add a few things as im into my plec's but have always been afraid tp keep zebra plecs because they are so rare and i feel i wouldnt have the time to breed them. But i think its great that more people become aware of them and what needs to be done to help preserve them
Good luck if you decide to go through with them

Re: Zebra Plecs
they are nice, really nice fish. I had 4 in a tank and never saw them, very shy little things. Cost me £75 each and sold them for £125 each 4 months later.

Re: Zebra Plecs
I decided against these in the end as the seller seemed REALLY dodgey, also we have no experience at plecs. We actually got a female plec today named Becky from someone that needed rehoming, so we shall start here and next year plan to have a tankfor said zebs. I am fixed on them as they are absolutely gorgeous but think some kind of species tank would be better than the community i have. £75? that was blooming cheap Daz!

Re: Zebra Plecs
Well the pics that were provided were the real deal, but what put me off was google "zebra pleco" and the third pic along is one of the ones included and this was for a ad in 2007, so this left me uneasy, so have left for now. Oop should have said I have a gorgeous bristlenose female, she is an incredible flirt! Apparently her favourite is courgette. lol

Re: Zebra Plecs
Well unsure, they found me through Aquarist Classfied randomnly and started to get a little evasive of my questions. Of course he could be completely ligitimate but this time round I wasnt willing to risk it.
Brill Kizno - I am stocked and sorted (thought I would be but needed to make sure)
