sand for bottom?

Post by clairebee1 on Sun Nov 01, 2009 2:13 pm

ok more questions lol! Well i have always loved the look of sand at the bottom of the tank, but do not know how to go about putting the sand into the tank, do i need to do anything to the sand before putting it in? Or should i just stick with gravel stones? Claire x

i and lots of other people use play sand from argos - etc
all you need to do is to rinse it well - get rid of the dust 0 then add to the tank

if you want plants have it around 1 1/2 " deep

Yep as above hon, wash well so the water runs clear, layer on the bottom, a little tip when filling up, put a plate on top of the sand and gently pour water onto the plate, this will disperse the water easily, without mixing up the sand too much and less cloudy water x

You can but it may take longer for the sand to settle, so will look murky for a little while Very Happy If you can I would get the sand in as soon as possible to give it time before the Betta goes in thumbup
