Think i have a problem already!

Post by clairebee1 on Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:19 pm

Okay as im new to these bettas, i placed the heater into the tank and the orange light goes off and on sometimes, but my temp is staying at 26c and won't go up or down. I have the heater set at like 29c to see if it will heat it up to around 27c but it wont go up. Is my heater broke? its a few weeks old and its a VITA Tech heater. What should i do?

Dont worry hon, the light is to show when it is physically needing to heat the tank up, as long as the temperature is steady that is the main things, as to it wont go higher than 26C hmmmm..some have weird settings on them so perhaps it is stuck on 26C at highest?

I don't really know, it lets me turn the handle around, but it will not go past 26c on the therm. Unless its going to take a while to heat around the tank!

It should take a little while (which is good so the fish can adapt). See what the temperature is in the morning x

Yeah, be careful though! I have to set my heater to 72 for it to heat at 80. After it sort of went dodgey i tested around with it and now its finally at 80 when set at 72 and has been for a month or so. Smile
