RO Water

Hey guys

Need you advice (as unsure understand properly and dont want to harm fishies). Alex went ahead and got a RO unit in preparation for his marine tank (main reasoning neither of us drive). Well I really want to breed the cories I have and the new ones I am getting, we have pretty hard water and PH8, the cories generally prefer more neutral softer PH. Would it be beneficial to mix RO water in on a percentage to aid and also be better for them? On a small percentage basis? If i were to do it I want to do it safely and dont want PH shock

Hiya
The problem with RO water is that everything is stripped out, good and bad.
If you want to use it for fresh water tanks you will need to use a product like "RO Rite". Its an additive that puts back the good bits. You can then make the water to whatever ph you want by adding more or less additive.

Ah someone on the corie side have intuited me not to mess with anything, sorry if easily confused by these things. Thanks so much Van! Does this apply to marine tanks environments. I havent read on this side and Alex may know already but would he need to add these?

WIth marine tanks, the salt you buy contains all the neccessary minerals already in it. So you just mix in salt to the desired sg Smile
