free ram

Post by kizno1 on Mon Nov 23, 2009 6:35 pm

got given a ram today for free because i was selling guppy fry to someone and when round there house to give it to them and then they showed me the tank and i saw a tiny about 1l tub with no fillter heater or light with a ram in it he put it in there a few days ago because it was fighting with his apisto so he just left it there. so he said i could have it atlest it hadnt gotton to cold because it was ontop of the tank but still but its floating in a bag in my tank. im not sure if its a really stressed blue ram or a stressed bolivian it seems alot happier now though.

I love stories with happy endings!! And Rams <3 they're my favorite chiclid especially since they don't munch on the plants.

Have any of you had experiences with balloon rams?? They so adorable they look like little pixies but its really hard to find healthy ones near me

Im not that keen on rams TBH i prefer apisto. I wouldnt buy rams of a shop i would look for a specialist. Most lfs just keep them at 24-25C like other fish but rams need to be kept between 28-32C and really dont do well at lower temps thats why the ones in shops never look good. I think ballon rams are evan harder to keep healthy. What you want to look for are wild rams they look amazing and are alot healthier than captive ones that have been over breed. You will be looking at about £30 for a pair though.
