Scrap and get new??

Post by ReptileLuver729 on Sun Dec 20, 2009 10:48 pm

Hi
I have been thinking ever since my little Triton boy got sick (today) that I might feel more at ease if I had my two boys in separate tanks in case another sickness came around. I mean I know I just set up my divided ten gallon in August and don't get me wrong, I LOVE the looks of it, but I just would feel better...So I guess my question is, do the little five gallon desk tanks come with heaters and filters? And do you guys think it would be okay for me to scrap my current tank and just use the decor and sand from it? Thanks. And I will keep you updated on my little Triton guy...

IMO i would keep the divided tank.

i wouldnt have thought treating both boys will cause any harm

what disease is it they have? (am sure i read it but cant remember)

He has an internal infection thing. I treated him today, but it doesn't seem to have done anything yet.

Instead of scrapping, why not get some glass cut to make permanent dividers. Each section could have a sponge filter being run off one air pump:)

Meds can't take a few days or longer to take effect, i'd keep the divided because then if your other fish has anything you already have meds in the water. The only way you'd need to seperate is if your fish got a disease at the same time that was different.

If you do decide to divide permanently with glass, its important to measure the internal gap accurately. I would take off 2mm from the actual measurement as the sealant would take up the slack.

Doing this would be a cheaper option than buying new 5g tanks.
