lfs bettas

Post by flip on Mon Dec 21, 2009 1:44 am

i went to my lfs today to look at thier betta's and they had a few that were ctbf's they had white bodies and then the fins were a silver grey color with the white like a butterfly. is it possible they are really this color or are they just pale due to stress/health? if they are this color they are really pretty!

CT = Crown tail
BF = Butterfly - refers to colour pattern. The fins will have a minimum of two bands of colour as in the left hand pic in my siggie.

yeah, it is a shame though, he is such a pretty boy...unfortunately stacy ( the danio) tends to be a bit of a bully to everyone else in the tank. so im afraid i will just have to keep my fingers crossed i can find another one like him when the tank is ready.

edit: just thought of another question. after christmas im going to be dividing my 10 gallon tank in half for two boys. i dont yet have a qt/hospital tank(looking for one though) so if when im ready to get them should i get them both at the same time and just put them in?

another edit: sorry just thought. would a 2.5 gallon work for a qt? ive been looking at 5 gal, but the 2.5 is cheaper.

A 2.5 is fine for a QT tank Very Happy

If you get both Bettas from the same place, then there's no reason not to put them straight in your tank. Its only when adding a fish from a different place that qt becomes more important.

ok, good the 2.5 has an easier price to get my hubby to be ok with! they will both be from the same lfs as they have the healthiest bettas out of all. i didnt want to put them in together if it wasnt going to be good for them!

Technically yes, as long as you can keep the temp right and the tub is food safe Very Happy

I find that petco often gets groups of bettas sililar in color and tail type. I believe that they are sometimes siblings or related from one of petcos big breeders.
