OMG THIS IS TERRIBLE!

Post by ReptileLuver729 on Wed Dec 23, 2009 11:05 pm

I just cleaned my tanks and let the sand settle and everything to find when plugging everything back in that my filters quit working. I am thinking that maybe the sand messed up the motors after a while... Evil or Very Mad This is so not what I needed. If one of them worked that would be great...but NO they both quit! How long can my tank go like this. It could be a week or more before I can get another filter...

You'll be fine if you keep up with more regular waterchanges. If you have another filter running then you can clone your media once you get your new filter.

I think sometimes with sand you need to clean the filters a little more often. Did it looked quite clogged up inside?

It always happens at the worst time doesn't it!! Like I said as long as you do plenty of water changes then any fish will be fine until you sort things out.

Ok...thanks for the support! Haha! And since Maru now just has the tank to himself, when I sort all this filter stuff out, what kind of tank mates could I add...not that I think he will be lonely...he lives like a king, but really just for something else to look at.

Snails or shrimps might be a possibility but may think they are just another food source lol Depends very much on his temperament.

sometimes theres a coating of slime inside a filter that is not enough to stop it running but enough to keep it from starting up. pull the filter 100% apart and clean all the parts, then use the sink to rise the innerds as well as you can. sometimes you get lucky, sometimes the filters are done for. but its worth a shot.
