30g stock

Post by kizno1 on Sun Jan 10, 2010 6:39 pm

i think i might get rid of alot of my fish and start again the female bettas just seem to be to much trouble every time it settels down they go and kick of and start shredding each other. so im going to have a few bigger fish insted of the tetras and things
how dose this sound
2 angel fish ( i would buy 4 and wait for 2 to pair up)
6 dwarf neon rainbowfish
1 banjo catfish
3 upside down catfish
2 bns
pair of apisto
and i might get one more catfish or a single cichlid like a convict
i think maby one of these for the last catfish

2 pairs of anglefish would be way to much for your tank, i had just 2 in my 30g and they took up over half the tank when breeding. I have 5 small angel fish now in my 52g and they get on with female bettas, tatras and apistos so they are community. I think a convict may also be a bit to much for your tank as with cichlid's like convicts it either cichlids with all other big fish such as angelfish or no big cichlid at all, as they can get fairly large and you may find it just over powers all of your other fish. Personally i would just go for:

2 angelfish
6 shaoling fish
1 banjo catfish
3 upside down catfish
1 bristlenose plec (I have 3 dwarf plecs and they compete for food and hiding spaces even in a 240 litre tank)
and your pair of apisto's
Could try adding a few cory's as well if you wanted depends on the amount of hiding spaces.

But i would try to sort things out first as you have some nice fish already and its seems a shame to replace them all jut beacuse of the female bettas. Just my honest opinion.

Sounds ok:) Not sure if the Apisto's and Convict would see eye to eye though??

i ment wait for 2 angelfish to pair up and get rid of the other 2 not keep 2 pairs.
and the other reson im getting rid of most of them is i would just prefere a few bigger fish rather than all the tetras and other shoaling fish so its not just because of the bettas but a mixture of both.

Ahh okay i see Smile I had a pair of firemouths about 9 months ago they are a nightmare if you dont get a pair and usually lfs only sell small young fish so its pretty hard. However my friend has a pair and they are great they also breed quite easily.

Yeahh a pair is fine Smile Its just finding one as buying them already paired up is costly and watching them grow and pair takes time. But good luck Smile I have 5 growing which im hopeing to get a pair out of.
