is salt a good idea

is it dangerous to use salt in my tank with my betta,,, i havent had mt betta long, and i dont know wether putting aquarium salt in my tank is a good idea, should i stop?

Bettas dont require aquarium salt generally. Some people use a little as it appears to stop things like whitespot, however as a betta prefers higher temps than normal trops whitespot is unlikely anyway.

Aquarium salt can help when treating some meds and also helps with the healing of damaged fins.

As a rule, i wouldn't use it unless i needed too:)

This is interesting for me. I had been trawling the internet when Smurf first started tail biting. I posted on 1 particular forum and everybody suggested adding aquarium salt to the tank and doing very regular partial water changes?

I haven't as yet because I came here and thought I'd try the option of adding more tankmates first. Smile
