im not to sure on them but i think there ok with most common comunity fish but i dont think they would do well with a gressive bottom dwellers like cichlids or some catfish. van might be able to help you more i think he has a few. :]

Re: stocking....again
Hi
I have 2 peacock gobies in my community tank.
Stock includes - Gouramis, Rainbowfish, Tetras, Danios, Corys, Oranate catfish and an Apple snail.
The Gobies are awesome little fish
Nothing bothers them and they dont bother any other fish. They do however have a tendancy to try and nip the tentacles of the Aplle snail, but the snail retracts too quickly for them. They have got rid of virtually all other pest snails in the tank
They will eat anything, flake, granules, catfish pellets, bloodworm etc
You can keep in pairs, three's, four's or whatever
Here's one of mine:)

Re: stocking....again
Hello! Peacock gobies are meant to be really peaceful fish though as mentioned above dont do well with anything more aggressive and wont fight for food. They are beautiful little gobies and highly recommended for peaceful communities. We bought some for ours which turned out to be mislabelled and were purple spotted gudgeons
they ended up eating half the tank and beating up the rest. If you do go for these fish take a piccy with you for proper identification
They definately should look like Van's gorgeous one above.

Re: stocking....again
i really would put them in with firemouths there to agressive for most fish but i think they would batter the gobys. the key holes might be alright but its risky. the banjo should be fine. i dont think they would do to goood with the senegal bichir thats if you still want one of them?

Re: stocking....again
I couldnt say for sure hon as havent kept any cichlids myself but from what I have read of them they are fiesty perhaps bullying fish so might not be best with gobies as they might get bullied and also would not compete for foodl...

Re: stocking....again
Oh well I didn't really think they would be compatible but it dosn'et hurt to ask [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] And no I probably wont be getting a bichir. What about zebra danios? are there any big catfish that will stand out but not hurt the gobies? or,probably a big no,red tailed shark?.Also I have heard that peacock gobies are hard to feed, like an adf,and I had ALOT of trouble trying to make sure they ate.

Re: stocking....again
Never had any probs feeding my Gobies. They take flake, granules, bloodworm, brineshrimp and even pinch the catfish pellets.
Re: stocking....again
Hmmmm I think with feeidng the gobies it depends whether they are wild caught or tank bred and what they have been raised on. If buying from a local store that you dont know the history of, I would recommend asking them to feed them infront of you so you can ensure they are eating for yourself, also find out with perhaps the manager if they are from a local used breeder or if he knows anythign further. As to feeding otherwise, hopefully Van will let you know how he gets on with his in his gorgeous setup. I can say with the purple spotted gudgeons even though they ate half the tank they would eat any flake and frozen chucked their way too, really not picky eaters but then they were tank raised and bred.
Zebra danios I would think would be good, better to have a shoal to lessen aggression. Sharks I am not sure about at all hon, sorry to say thoughthink most species can get fairly large? As to catfish there are tons but it depends what money you have to spend! LOL The thing to remember with plecs is to remember they are poop machines so have a good filter and not to have a common misconception they feed off of algae, they need good quality substituted food and veg and for particular species they will want meatier foods as they get older.
If you havent had plecs before I would suggest a bristlenose perhaps? They come in different variants, arent too costly and are real comedians around the tank, they are also very peaceful. One variant I would love to get my hands on is a starlight bn. also if you get a male he will develop the funny bristles as well. These get to a good 6" perhaps larger depending. One thing I would mention is not to go for a common plec or plec wihtout knowing its proper name otherwise it will outgrow the tank in most situations!
p.s. If you have money to spare and really want a statement plec go for a zebra! They are gorgeous
p.s.s. A really nice plec that isnt too expensive and is gorgeous is Queen Arabesque

Re: stocking....again
go for the 3 upside down catfish there cool to watch
i would go for somethink like
a pair of angelfish or gourami
10 danios or rainbowfish
a trio of steel blue killis
4 gobbies
2 bn or clown plec or 1 of each
3 upside down catfish
1 banjo
and you might be able to get in a piar of apisto or some corys depending on the filter. :]

Re: stocking....again
whats your ph? because the catfish will prefer it below 7 but if your is nearer 8 you could get a nice group of synodontis lucipinnis there quite easy to spawn aswell
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
and why aint you getting a bichir??

Re: stocking....again
8-8.5 is my ph so I will probably get the cat fish you suggested in stead of the other cat fish (can I keep the plecos?) and I decided to get rid of the bichir because it seemed like it was a lot of effort, filteration wise, and the attraction sort of wore off,iif you know what I mean

Re: stocking....again
8.5 wow thats quite hight for most of the catfish and apisto but the lucipinnis will love it. i would go for a lake malawi or lake tanganyika set up but the danios would get battered. they would love that ph. thats about as much as i can help you will malawi and tanganyika cichlids ive never read or kept them.
