pictus arent really that sensative they will do fine in most water aslong as its not to high ph but the hardness there not to bothered about. the danios would be a bit of a risk with the firemouths, acara, angelfish and pictus but they will be ok with the rainbows lol.

really, darn the page i saw said the rainbows would eat anything they could fit in their mouth and i didnt see anything about the acara just that they are peaceful, but i did only do a skim to try to narrow it down a bit. my ph is 7.6 and the high range ph test says7.8, so the pictus prob wont like my water...maybe some cories instead.

i think the rainbows should be ok. the problem with the acara and fire mouths is they can get 6-8" and when they get territorial if a danio gets in there way i wouldnt fancy its chances. that ph might be little high for most cichlids. i would recommend lake malawi or lake tanganyika cichlids but they danios really wont do well in with them they would get battered.

hmmm ok i can always try to lower the ph some how as long as it stays around 7.2 for the snails.when i go to the lfs ill have a look at what they have availible there and if they can order different ones in then go from there, it may make this easier [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] if need be i can always give away some danio, just cant sell them since they are glofish....thanks for being so helpful kizno! i know nothing about the types of fish that can go in a tank this size!

NNOOOOOO dont get the ph lwering stuff. its makes the ph unstable and stresses the fish. the best thing to use is wood. my tap ph is about 7 and my tank ph is 6.3 and 6.5 or somethink like that because i have so much wood. glad i could help :]

Yeh, lowering the PH with chemicals is very awkward and if done too quick will kill fish. Then every time you do a water change you'll have to match the ph exactly.

if you do use wood to lower the ph dont do massive water changes i do 2 25% water changes a week insted of a 50%. :]

if you really want to kepp the danios you could go for a stock like
pair of gourami
the danios
10 rainbowfish
2 pairs of apisto
10 corys
1 bn or similar sized plec or a banjo catfish or a group of upside down catfish

hehe i have to take notes so i actually remember what all they have after i walk out the door! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] i dont have too much of a choice in the danios, i cant even take them to an lfs since they are glofish. they are patented and you arent allowed to intentionally breed. but i keep finding fry when i check the water change bucket and cant bring myself to do anything other than keep them.

lol i though you where going to say so you could whip out a load of facts and look smart infront of them :]. i would throw the danios in with the acara and firemouths then sorry but i really dont like them i dont see why you would want to keep a fish that has been died you can get just as nice fish that are natural. throw a apisto in the tank if you really dont want the fry they will finish them off.

they arent dyed, they are genetically modified. i got them when i didnt know anyhting about them. and they are born with the coloring, they ones i have are fry from my adults that i bought, they are so cute so far they are all orange like the dad. they were picked out by my 4 year old and he liked the colors of them. i dont mind them as a fish. they are fun to watch shoaling. not my favorite but the boys really enjoy them so i cant have them all eaten.
