Sorority questions...

Post by aly_starh on Fri Feb 26, 2010 6:55 pm

Hi!

I will finally have my sorority within the next 2 weeks im hoping.

just a few questions though;
* how many is the minimum?
* how many will fully stock a 65L tank?
* plant wise; im guessing the tank should be heavily planted?! i will use my new silk plants
* when introducing them, do i add Tizzy last?

any other pointers?

thanks in advance!

I have 4 in a 65L but one or two more would be fine. Heavily planted with tall plants to break up the line of sight and lots of caves etc.

It would be best to add Tizzy last and then keep your fingers crossed that they all behave lol

Another pointer if any of the girls are ct's you might experience a little more aggression. But it does settle in time

Once sororities are set up and established they really are fun. Just takes a little while sometimes lol

Also red girls seem more aggresive too.

didnt know about CT's - which might explain some things in my tank

thanks haych
lol @ edited reason Smile

Thanks Kizno, i dont think i will be getting CT's, i asked the breeder for a variety of colours rather than taiol types as they will not be used for breeding purposes. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

one theory about why cts are more agressive is the lighter fins. less weight and drag makes faster fish who then bicker more.

yea, they are capable of faster and more agressive fighting, but pks are also bred for their agression, or they are only a few generations away from being bred for fighting. the other tail types often have many generations away from the origional fighters.

thats not to say hm, deltas, dt or vt are sweet little angels all the time either lol. I think most of it depends on the breeding and the personality of the particular fish. the lovely hm in my avatar was one crazy and mean girl.
