Man im angry!! :@

Well, after getting my little Embry (Shussssh! dont tell know one!) He's basically the best fish i've ever had within 24hours!. My mate came around not soo long ago, admiring embry and asked 'Are those them Japennese fisghting fish'. After giving him the correct details of its name, he came out with this. 'Someone I used to know kept a few of these and on the weekend he used to do bets on which one would win, funny aint it!'. Needless to say im not very pleased as the bugger moved away a year ago, otherwise I would have a few rescues with me right now. How could someone do that, yet again a pet store selling fish to someone who obviousley would know jack *h*t about a fish or care for its welfare, it would be pretty obvious just be looking at someone and their personallity. If I get my work experience placement at my LFS, I dont think I'd sell many fish, or they would get fed up of me harrasing them with every aspect of fish keeping! lol. Rant over *Breath*.

its very frustrating that people think they can
do what they like as they cant speak,(fish that is)
we can only do our best to educate these people
unfortunately it doesnt always work!

Some people don't care and some people are just ignorant about the topic they're talking on. Poor wee fishies.

I sometimes think that LPS etc. sell them as "fighters" because they think that will make them sell better than "betta" or "Siamese fighting fish". Just a thought.

Oh no that's horrible. Why anyone would want to watch fish ripping each other to pieces is beyond me

The same reason the bet over dog fights and rooster fights. It's animal abuse plain and simple. Mean people (bullies) who are trying to make themselves feel better by hurting others. It all very sad.

Yes, let's not insult the poor dung beetles! I always try to remember though that we get to rescue some of these babies. I did a kitten napping because these people were beating the poor wee one, barely 3 mo.s old I kept her hidden until they got kicked out, not that they really cared, they didn't even ask if I had seen her. Took me almost 2 years to get her to stop running every time a door banged or there was a loud noise! but she did find some happiness.

Aww poor Kitty:(. It is disgusting animal abuse, but I still think we need to replace the RSPCA who really are Croop!. I rescued my kitty from a woman who bred her parents to make extra money for xmas, and tried selling them for £150 each:O. None sold and were dumped on a local rescue centre and now lives a life of luxury with me:D.

Good for you Jake! I usually get my kitties from the pound when I can, I just hate to think how many get put to sleep for no good reason! So I try to help as much as I can.

Yeah:). And rescue animals always seem more 'happy' to be with you, which is a bonus :D.

I was in a lfs the other day and these lads were talking about fighting them. They were just outside the shop and said about going in and buying the bettas individually. Needless to say I shot back in the shop and told them. They said they knew who we meant as they had just been in asking questions, and they wouldnt sell them any fish at all....

Well done for saving those bettas . I never knew much about bettas let alone people fight them, its very sad :-(.

It is sad. Good for you for sticking up for the little guys!

Glad the people were responsible enough to not sell fish to them idiots.
