Thats it, through knowledge at me!.
I have rang a LFS about a saturday job (i'm 15), and they want me to ring back in two weeks when they are going to hire someone. I know basic information about most subjects like the nitrogen cycle, feeding, tank size, compatibilty, some illnesses, feeding ect. I want to read up about everything (including basic marine knowledge!) and would love it if you could direct me to great sites or your amazing knowledge!. I cant wait to ring them back!. I really want this job, it would be so coool and I could get discount bettas!

Re: Thats it, through knowledge at me!.
Your best bet is to write down what stock they keep in the lfs and concentrate on some of those. Also make yourself aware of the hardware (tanks, filters etc) and treatments they carry. Dont forget about plants too. Marine keeping is a vast area but there is some basic info here - Basic Marine Set up
You generally find that lfs workers have one or two species that they specialise in, whilst having a general knowledge of others. One thing I would say is, if you dont know the answer to a customers question find a member of staff that does
As for cycling filters, that depends on what the shops policy is
You find that there are still many LFS that dont recommend fishless cycling. Just make yourself aware of what they advise.

Also, one thing my guy at the LFS is knowledgable about is the meds for fish, they carry a lot and I was gonna buy stuff and he directed me to what works the best.

Good luck Jake!
Its nice to see somebody wanting to gain knowledge. I've encountered so many employees in LFS and LPS that bluff their way through and end up with customers making fatal mistakes because of it.
I'm very into canine nutrition and the amount of people that have tried to sell my mum poor food items because of misinformation or because they want a sale. The very best of luck to you, I really hope you get the job pet.

Re: Thats it, through knowledge at me!.
Thanks for the kind words guys!. Its the opening today, so I basically don't have a clue what they sell. They sound very nice and informative on the phone, so we'll have to see. I think they are asking me to ring back in two weeks to see how busy the shop is maybe?. I know quite a bit about snails already flip, I used to breed all types of aquatic and GALS about a year back. Heres' the things I believe I know alot about:
Breeding Livebearers
Tank Size and species size
'community fish' I.e Tetras
A little about common cichlids I.e Angels, Rams
Nitrogen Cycle
General Maintenance
Coldwater fish (not ponds though!)
Compatibility
Bettas (general info, still learning from spending hours on here!)
Amphibians & Reptiles (I used to keep quite a few of them, which would come in handy if they ever wanted to sell reps!)
Things I need to learn:
Marine ( I expect the owner would know alot about these)
Brackish
Cichlids
Medicine
Crisis help ( I.e fighting, power cuts)
Could anyone help with the above.

I really hope you get the job
I think you'd be really good, and i'm sure they'd appreciate having someone who is very keen on the hobby themselves, because your enthusiasm will make sales
