Lol. I was thinking that they are practically the same thing as plastic tanks, easy to modify, see-threw and I heat via heatmat so wont need to worry about sticking heater inside. I think im going to try it Very Happy.

There was a girl a couple of years ago that kept her betta in a RUB. She had it decked out with gravel and plants etc and it seemed to work fine. The only downside is that you can't view them clearly from the sides.

and heatmats arent very good for bettas. they are designed to only raise the temperature a couple of degrees not maintain a temp - sorry to say Sad

I've had no problems?

I've obviousley added a thermostat that will activate the heatmat whenever the temperature drops below the set temperature. I believe Van has used or uses heatmats?

A RUB is a "Really Useful Box". You can get them from places like Staples.

We have used heatmats under the jars and a small glass tank without issue. Had to use a thermostat on the jars to keep the temperature down.

using heat mats can work or not work all depending on room air temp. I think van and netty had theirs set into a closet as well which better controlled the temp.

but don't you need a cover? Because i heard they are jumpers and a RUB cover has no holes in it, the fish would probably be asphyxiated!

You can just drill a few holes in the lid.
