Two new rescues!
My friend told me he had seen a few bettas in a fish shop. I payed a visit about a hour ago and wasn't very happy!
There was two that I could see in the array of tanks both VT (possibly another type as one is in such a state) I'll name them 1 and 2. 1 was in a barb tank and has very bad fin rips and 2 in a guppy tank but in good health. Me being me rescued them
. I had a 12l set-up for my next betta so ones in there and another in tiny 5l untill I can go out Monday and buy another tank. The one who is worse off also has the most amazing shade of blue I've ever seen on him, so will look marvellous once he's a better betta!
Pictures to come later, my roast dinner is on the way to my mouth, yummy.

Re: Two new rescues!
Its horrible seeing them like this. What pees me off is that they have a tank that has tiny compartments maybe 1 litre each which they would of been better in there! No they fill with shrimp and fry! Grrrr.

Could anyone tell me the tail type and some name ideas. I've been thinking about Flame

Re: Two new rescues!
They are probably both veiltails hon, the poor little blue guy
Hoping someone can diagnose him for you as it isnt good the grey patch has extended onto the body (bad finrot?) Well done on bringing them home. You could have flame and aqua (flame is really good for his stunning colour!)

Re: Two new rescues!
Congrats on your new Bettas. The poor little blue boy definately has fin rot that has started to spread onto the body. You'll need to do lots of regular water changes to keep his water crystal clean with absolutely no traces of ammonia which would make it worse. You'll need to treat with Myxazin. You can add a small amount of aquarium salt too which will help prevent any infection. Hopefully it's not too late for him but if he does make it then there's no reason that his fins wont fully regrow.
Best of luck with him and let us know how he does

Re: Two new rescues!
Thankyou I like the name Aqua. If im honest I have no clue about fin rot and what to treat him with? I'm going out tommorow to get them both a new tank so can get them into bigger and well filtered homes.

Re: Two new rescues!
Aquarium salt is fairly cheap should only cost £1.99 absolute maximum for small packet. Myaxzin locally here is usually £4-5ish, best of luck with them both xx

Re: Two new rescues!
It is great that you rescued these two fish I would have done the same thing if I had seem them. This really makes me want to beat up the idiot that put a betta in with tiger barbs! It looks like Aqua has some fin rot though so you should treat that. I hope your bettas have long, happy, lives!

Re: Two new rescues!
I'm very sad to report that Aqua didn't make it through the night. I'm reallyy upset as this is my first betta death. At least Aqua had a great two days in a tank to him self and didn't need to hide from nasty fish! I'm going back to the shop today hopfully with the body and showing them the disgusting state he was sold to me in and getting a full refund (or probably rescue another if they are in a state) as I'm not letting them make a profit from selling ill fish, even though it was only £5. R.I.P Aqua.

Re: Two new rescues!
I'm really sorry you lost him
but at least he was in a peaceful place to pass away in and not being terrorized anymore.
