Re: New one! Help on Filters?
Just read the whole breeding section on the website, and made notes :p
Just curious, when the male is being conditioned in the spawning tank, and the female is separated from her group, would it be ok to put her in the male's old tank before moving her to the spawning tank?
Also, aren't those "jars" you used to separate the male (do you keep female together?) around £4 each? You've got hundreds :P Just don't want to get breeding if I don't have the space, tempted to convert the spare room.

Re: New one! Help on Filters?
You could put the female in the empty males tank or just put her in floating breeding trap in her tank. You can get nice net ones from P@H. Its really so you can make sure she's getting plenty of food without having to fight for it.
The jars/containers didn't cost us that much
We have about 100 of them and bought in bulk, but the place we got them from doesn't sell them now. We have also used plastic fruit jars that we got from Aldi. Still got loads of fruit in freezer bags in freezer lol.
Here they are on a reptile heatmat:)

awww
How do you find the selling of them? I'm guessing that because you're an established breeder it will be a lot easier then me selling mine
(Not thinking of breeding for another year yet) What percentage go to Garden Centres with Aquarist sections/Aquarist shops?

Hiya
Selling is a bit hit and miss really and a lot depends on the market at that time. We've never sold any to local fish shops. All ours have been sold through our website, ebay, other forums or by word of mouth. One thing to bear in mind is not every spawn produces bettas that people want to buy. You may also get some which are slightly, well weird, like an odd shape. These we have just given away to good homes. We still have about 15 from a large spawn last year that were not sold, so these are all things to consider before breeding. Its for these reasons its vitally important be prepared and to breed the best quality bettas you can find.
