Halfsuns?

Post by silverrabbit on Tue Apr 13, 2010 1:07 am

You know how it goes, midnight internet browsing because when you've been made redundant there's nothing better to do LOL. Well on my adventures I came across some pics of such beautiful bettas... Halfsuns cyclops

Just wanted to know why they are so hard to find, or is that just in the UK? So pretty you'd think everyone would want one or 3 Wink or are they not in demand?

I mean the dude who bred them got them on the first spawn. He wasn't aiming for them but if that were me i'd be like cheers

Is it impossible to find them over here? I want verrrrry badly pullhair

They come up for sale occasionally. Its not that they are rare but it normally takes a couple of generations to produce them. Unless a breeder specifically sets out for them, the general betta breeder wont follow it through.

Where is the link?, I want to see! Our store only carries VT and CT (and the occasional PK mixed in with the girls, who come in Thursday BTW so I will have more girls to make the sorority) Love

They aren't very common unfortunately. The problem I think is that the guy who got them in F1s was extremely lucky as it wouldn't normally show until F2 or 3. You'd only get a small % that are HS and the rest could be a real mishmash that might not sell quite so easily.

I think the best way to start the line is by using a Female CT and a Male HM.

Tilly used to have a lovely one a couple of years ago. I think there is a pic of him in the tailtypes sticky.

sigh atm I just can't stop thinking about bettas... this is where I'm relieved that we don't have fish-selling supermarkets over here, because i'm bad enough as it is without having to make sure I check all the little cups every time I shop!

Mmhmm it's so addictive! ATM there are some very pretty ones on Ebay. I'm in love with a yellow one but can't justify buying him when i've already spent a lot on bettas this past month lol!

Do want some girlies though... actually i *need* them to make a good number, so technically that doesn't count as buying for the sake of it hehe

Lucky you Very Happy A Lyre tail is basically the same as a DT but the name is usually used mainly abroad.

I wonder why he didn't just call them both double tails. Prob to get my mum to buy them both lol!

It's not a tail type i'd go out of my way to buy, but hey, mustn't look a gift fish in the gills
