£5 tank

Post by Skunk on Fri Apr 23, 2010 9:16 pm

I got a £5 tank today Smile

18"x12"x12", so around 40 litres (around 9 gallons) Smile This is going to be used as a growing up tank for an axolotl which I'm gonna get sometime over the weekend Smile *very happy* when I know the filter has got there.

I also got a mature filter from them for £5 which is a Sacem Gemini 60

Got sand as a substrate due to axies being silly-bums and eating gravel!

So, good deal?

How long do you think it will take for the filter to be efficient enough for an axie?

Will take water values tonight to see how the land lies

bargain!

I just paid £70 for one Shocked

I was gonna buy just the glass tank for £28, but the hood was £32 - then I needed lights, heater and filter so Kev told me to just buy the Juwel Korall

True Smile for £10 I got a 2nd hand tank and matured little filter, no lid or lighting.

Full set up new sexy kits are worth that though :D Eventually, in many years to come, i'm going to get a huge 8ft tank with cupboards and it's going to be brand new from the shop Twisted Evil

Good buy thumbup

If the filter you got was mature and didn't dry out, then just keep adding some fish food everyday until you stock it. This will keep the bacteria alive. Keep checking the stats daily just to check.

Also, 3 of the plants I bought for my 26C tank have died, took them out and the leaves where brown and all fell off. Ideas why?

I went into my lfs and usually go in for a chat with the guy who owns it anyway, discussing what would be best for various tanks, etc. and he usually gets in 2nd hand tanks, big 4ft'ers for £30, etc, this one was £10, but he said I could have it for £5, think he thinks I'm gonna be a good future customer :P *just bought an axolotl*

Same, no lid here either :P

The little guy is doing well, lethargic and a bit stressed as you can imagine for the first day. Though, i went into a lps where I had got a hamster from (Ichigo) and asked about bubble stones...they said that an "ansolotty" was a reptile and needs dry and wet Shocked Grr, bad advice.

A wild, but quite light, i.e. the majority is a golden brown, though he has an awesome thin moustache shaped marking above his top lip :D
