Well thats it
After the terrible 3 day death streak of mollies, this morning i woke to find only 2 adult dalmation mollies, 3 baby mollies, 4 corys and 1 neon alive in the tank of death!
Decided i cant wait till saturday to go to the lfs so took things into my own hands...dont know if they'l survive but iv had to move the 5 mollies and neon into Haku's tank in a plastic floating breeding box, the corys went into Plutos tank. As it only seems to be a problem with the filter in the big tank, i thought this is the best thing to do rather than leave them where they are and watch them die.
Iv just fed them a crushed flake and the babies have had a nibble but the adults didnt. Hopefully they'll be ok and come back to health. Fingers crossed.

Re: Well thats it
@silverrabbit - the fish now seem to be acting as normal, still not eating much though. Not swimming with a fast wiggle or bumping into things...maybe things are looking up after all my bad luck. (id better touch wood, lol!)
Thinking about changing my fish ideas for the big tank, starting over and replacing everything. Its just going to be a nightmare trying to get the sand out the bottom...anyone got any tips?? Oh also when i clean it out can i only use water to clean it or is there anything else i can use??

Re: Well thats it
I've removed sand from a tank using a dustpan/scoop thing. Just drained out as much water as possible and it was quite easy
Some people use bleach solution to disinfect their tanks but I don't trust myself
So far i've used meth blue (though my tank remains tinged blue) and eSHa 2000 in non-dechlorinated tapwater left to soak in the tank for a few days. Done a salty water soak too, I do that to new tanks and I like it as I know I rinse the salt all out
What you thinking of putting in your tank now?

I"ve used bleach to clean my tanks before. Just rinse until you can't smell bleach in the water anymore. I've never had a problem with it.

I would be careful putting the other fish in with your healthy ones incase its a disease.
Also, mollies are prone to a disease that sends them wampy - cant remember what its called mind - mine used to swim and dart around, bump into thinkgs and also go nose to the floor and spin.
With regards to cleaning I have always used good old salt and hot water

Re: Well thats it
@Silverrabbit - iv seen other peoples females on here and started to want more than the 2 iv already got.
@Kizno - Sadly one of the dalmation mollies died this morning but i had a feeling last night it may not last as the other fish where pushing it around and nipping at it. The rest are eating well and looking good.
Thanks both of you.

Re: Well thats it
you where lucky there then 10g is the recommended min. In a 20G i would go for 6-8 and then a few other fish.

Re: Well thats it
It was by bad advise from pets @ home i ended up with 3 females! They suggested i put them in with the male i had at the time, of cause i didnt know at the time what was the right thing to do, so just took there advise! Thankfully it worked out well for me when i had to get an emergency tank!

Re: Well thats it
Yh any type should be fine in a 20G. BNs normally get to about 5" for the normal types but there are types that will get between 5-8+2 long. the ones you get in the lfs will proberly be Ancistrus cirrhosus like mine which get to about 5"
