I would use a tetratec ex600-700
Tetratecs are very good I have two - easy to use, good cleaners and extremely quiet

Re: Which external filter?
I would go for a flurval 305. i have the 404 and its a brilliant filter. the 305 does 1000lph i always aim for a 10X turn over so thats just a little over 10 time

Rang my local maidenhead aquatics store this afternoon they've recommended the fluval 205 for the size of my tank. Need to look in to this properly.

Re: Which external filter?
30G the 404 does 1300lph and i havent had a problem with it dieng to strong. I dont really trust what they say if you want to fullly stock your tank they normally reccommend it for a 6X turn over but i personally prefere a 10x turn over. The flurval 3+ i have in my 60l does 700lph and is recommended for tank upto 120cm which is twice the legnt od the tank i have but it is doing perfect in a 60l

Re: Which external filter?
I have a fluval 3+ dont like it, that was in the 100 litre tank before takes up a lot of space too. So going to try an external filter instead. Thanks for your help Kizno

Re: Which external filter?
it is fairly big but my apisto and ocrys are loving the current and it only takes up the corner so it doesnt bother me. IMO externals are the way to go with anythink 20G +

Re: Which external filter?
On my 40g tank I use the Aqua One aquis 1200. They also do a 1000LPH version too. They are normally a bit cheaper than the equivalent Fluval and the canister holds more water, which increases the total amount of circulating water
Re: Which external filter?
Thanks Van, still havent got 1 still looking they are so expensive too!

Re: Which external filter?
I keep looking on ebay and for at least a 1200 or 1000LPH its going to cost me at least £80.
That one is £60 for a 1400LPH new.

Ive never heard of it so it could be worth a try but its up to you if you think its worth risking £60.
