chocolate orandas///Sick!

Post by liz2 on Tue Jun 01, 2010 11:23 pm

I went into an aquatic shop today. They had one betta. The man said they were having a load in at the weekend!
I was looking at the cold water and they had some small chocolate orandas! £2.50 which seemed cheap. So I got the bloke who always serves me and asked him to get me one out. I then realised one of the orandas had only one eye, well that was me hooked! I had to have that one! So being cheeky I asked if I could have it cheap as it was faulty, I got him for £1! He is currently in a qt tank. I then asked him who had set the tanks up, he said one of the lads so I pointed out that the ranchus and ryukins had the wrong labels on, and the blue orandas (they were so pretty) had a calico oranda label on. He didnt seem very pleased. When I went past the counter a few minutes later this young lad was studying a book about fish types! Poke

I love chocolate orandas. I had one when I was a teen that I called 'Aramis' after one of the muskateers. S/He was beautiful to watch.

Well my tiny choc. oranda is very poorly. He had to come out of the main tank as he was being bullied. I put him in a qt box with a good filter and weed. he really perked up. I then had a problem with my favourite black moor who was being bullied and had somehow managed to shred his tail. I took the little oranda out of qt and put him in main tank. He was ok for a couple of days then I noticed he was up the corner. Since then my black fish has died and the little choc oranda looks as if he has fungus. I am treating him with fungus meds but he has gone all skinny and sick looking. Sorry little mate you were ok until i moved you ..

Sorry to hear this. Might be worth treating the tank with something like eSHa 2000? treats bacteria and fungus problems, but isn't hard on fish, filters or plants.

Hope he gets better and that the others are all ok. I lost my fave goldie the other day, I know it's very upsetting Sad

well little one eye looks a bit better. he has some regrowth on his fins. He has been in an unfiltered tank with natural weed. It is sort of in the sun for part of the day. He had another qt fish in with him but that died yesterday. Little one eye seems quite happy though but I had another tank to move him into, so he is now in there. Anyway I went to feed him and he ignored the hikari sinking pellets. Well he had been eating something as he has definitely put on weight. I went to clean out the qt tank and noticed it has live tiny baby daphnia in there, so i think that is what he has been eating... Love
