Thanks for the welcome from Seattle and yes that’s right Netty it ways via RFUK.
Well I feel I had better explain and tell you about my absence. Hope there’s another room on the thread. Back in late 2008 I had about 7 pairs of breeding Bettas. Can not remember for sure which ones I had but a pair did bread for me. I had them all in a 24x12x12 tanks in the back end of my conservatory. Not a bad place in summer, no heating required but hell of a place in winter. It was my first batch and I was very proud of them. I nursed them like babies. Well they were babies to me. I was out of work at that time and I still am due to Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. Sorry for the mouthful. I thought I was doing such a fine job nursing my babies. {You know what thought did} Week upon week passed, class container and more containers were bought. Lost count of the amount of males I finally ended up with. Then, and they finally then, the time came, they were about 18 weeks old when I tried to sell them. I tried and I tried but could I sell any? Nope, I was getting to the point of no return, No that’s a lie I got to the point of no return. I finally went to a pet shop and virtually gave my whole stock away and said what the hell, it’s not worth the time and effort. Well from that day to this I have had no Bettas but in there place I breed Angelfish. I could tell you a thing or two about them if any member wants to know. In fact I could tell you the name of the site I am moderator of but I don’t think that’s allowed. Alas I had the same problem with the Angel, selling them, but that’s another story and they have now been sold. The only tropical fish I have at present is a group of about 50 or so Endlers. My first love in Tropical Fish was and still is Bettas hence the reason I have returned to Betta Paradise. I still have some eleven tanks, 18” up to 36”. Not that I’m going to fill them all but the odd one would be nice.
Hope I have not bored you all but I felt it best to introduce myself and to let you all know the ins and outs.

How many angels do you have? I was speaking to someone who said there angels have breed the fry are now about 1" long and every 2 or 3 weeks the female lays eggs and forces the fry to eat them. Is this normal?

Hi Kiknol,
I used to have 30 tanks, nine Proven Breeding pairs, lost count of other adults. At one time I have over 200 fish. Angels can and do lay every 10 days. At one time I had a pair with 3 sets of fry. easy to breed and look after. well yes if you have the time and time. Otherwise no it can be hard. If you want to know ought then please feel free to ask.
Phil

Thats with out the babies. Lets see I had 2x4', + 4x3' + 4x30" all growing tanks all with 100 t0 400 babies in each. Yes you can say it got a bit hectic at time. But thats breeding for you.
I was am lucky in one sense as due to my health I am home 24/7.
At the same time it is due to my health that I had to sell up.

That is mental. What so are you still breeding them to that scale or have you scaled down a little?

It is not as bad as it sounds really. I have a rather large fish house. There are breeders that have a lot more than what I had. It is all shut down now and I'll miss it. Alas no more breeding angels for me. Talk about rabbits, well rabbits have nothing on angels and everyone knows how rabbits breed. You want to give it a try, but don't get hooked. Its easy, to get hooked I mean.
