No worries Very Happy

I love BNs but have never had any luck keeping them. I think part of the problem is that they are so small from the lfs.

They are tiny in lfs. luckily one of my lfs sells them at 2-3" for £5 which is cheaper than my other lfs sell them at 1" and i got my brown female or just the cost of postage. Shame your not closer or you could have a few of these. the next thing i want to get now are Ancistrus claro They only get to 4" and are like bns but with squiggle gold lines down them. im getting 5 at 1" for £25 which is good considering there worth more than normal bns.

Those are really nice too. Good that they don't get too big.

I would definately have had a couple of your babies if we were closer. I've had two baby albino BNs in the last year and lost them both with a week or two of getting them. Very frustrating but maybe I'll come across a bigger one, one day and snatch it up.

ok. Im selling 50 to my lfs so should still have a few left. This lot all have the albino gene so if you where to breed them you would get 25% pure brown 25% pure albino and 50% brown but with the albino gene.

Aslong as the waters good and you feed them you cant really go wrong. I hyst do 30% water changes and algea wafers or blood worm pellets every day and then frozen 1 day a week and cucumber twice a week so something like
mon - pellets or wafers
tue - pellets or wafers and fruit or veg
wed - pellets or wafers
thur - pellets or wafers
fri - pellets or wafers and lives or frozen
sat - pellets or wafers
sun - pellets or wafers and fruit or veg

thats all i do and there breeding monthly. Like you said i think most of the problems with the ones from the lfs is there still small and will get easily stressed.

Nice little ones you have there. I have had a few in the past but have had to get shut of them when they got too big. Nice at keeping the tank clean but also great demolition artist and talk about digging your plant's up. My eldest lad has just given me 20 or so manly browns but I noticed one albino in the tank. They are about the size you have there in your picture. I shall keep them as before but keeping a good eye open for when they start misbehaving. What I like about them is they are perfectly save towards the other fish and they don’t attach them selves to other fish. I feed mine on courgettes mainly as I find it does not mess up like the cucumber. Do you keep yours buy themselves or in a community tank.

I was feeding the babies courgette but they didnt seem to like it as much. I think ill go back to courgette again because like you said you get all little bits break of and float around the tank. I keep the adults in a 30G with 3 Upside Down Catfish,1 Banjo Catfish, 5 Glowlight Tetras, 5 Harlequin Rasboras and hopefully a pair of yellow cichlids or rainbow cichlids soon. They breed and raise the fry in the tank to. I took the first lot of them but ive just left the last lot in the tank and their doing really well in there.

Ive got another load of eggs. this lost was only 3 weeks after the last lot so there getting quicker. This lot does look smaller though so im wondering if it could be from my new smaller albino female but i think she is a little to small to hold this many eggs so not sure. will have to see if they turn out brown or albino. The other fry are still doing great in the big tank.
