Re: New BN fry pics
The biggest one at the front of this pic seems to be the dominate one hes the biggest and has the biggest bristles and keeps fighting with the other males. Its quite funny because they just slap each other with there tails.

The common bristlenose/ancistrus cirrhosus will get to about 5". Females tend to be a bit bigger and chunkier. ancistrus cirrhosus come in a few different colors brown, albino, red, piebald and you can also get them in longfin.

I looked at the albino bristlenoses and they look a bit creepy, i may try and get one for my 95 litre tank if i decide to turn into a community...how can i tell between male and female other than size. The long finned ones are very nice too.

Re: New BN fry pics
The males will get huge bristles hence the name bristlenose. The male will get long ones that cover the hole nose where and the females will have no bristles or they will have small little ones just around the tip of the nose.
the male is the one up at the top and the one at the bottom is a young female

The albino longfin ones do look stunning but im not sure how the female bettas would take to them. The red ones are amazing aswell but they cost £20-30 each
. In a 90L if the only other bottom dwellers where corys i think you could get away with a pair (1male 1female). Ive got a care sheet that i write on them on the comp around my nan and grandads next time im around there ill PM you it.

Re: New BN fry pics
Haha. theres nothing to feel silly about there one of the only types that you can sex other than females will be chunkier. Remember my male is an almost fully grown adult. The ones you get a LFS are normally 1-2" and impossible to definitely sex because at that age ones with out bristles could be female or less developed males so you can tell. Its best to get 4-5 and grow them out and wait for 2 to pair up. Ones they get 2-3" its fairly easy. If they have bristles going from up near there eyes down to the lip there defiantly male where as in theres just a few around the lip then they could be young males or just bristley female haha.
