Pea method

Pea method
Why does the pea method work? What is it about a pea that makes a betta go poo? (That being said who discovered that a pea makes a betta go poo??
) Would another vegetable or plant achieve the same results? Maybe a bit of green algae wafer?

Re: Pea method
I would imagine it is due to the fibre content (if peas have fibre lol). I would assume that any vegetable matter would work though.
Re: Pea method
Peas are a pulse aren't they? Like beans (as in Baked Beans), lentils... I haven't yet noticed a betta fart, though.

Re: Pea method
I'm rather sceptical about daphnia containing much fibre. Fibre is basically cellulose, which is plant cell wall.
I don't think it's the fibre content which has this effect on fish, especially as many vegetables have a higher content. It's more likely simply their way of processing peas.

Yeah, it seemed odd to me when I read that daphnia have fiber. I figured they must eat a lot of green stuff that stays for a while in their tummies. On looking around just now, I found a couple sites that simply say that daphnia serve as a mild laxative, but doesn't specify why.

Re: Pea method
I think it's the hard exoskeleton which causes the laxative effect.
