My tank/divided tanks

Post by jessie1602 on Sun Jul 04, 2010 5:08 pm

Hi all.

We divided up some of our glass tanks today. Eventually we want to get one large tank and divide it up and use it with a large external filter, but for now this'll have to do! The tank on the right needs a few more decos, it's looking a little sparse at the mo, and I'm still using a critter container for one of my delta's, so I will be busy next week sorting him out :-)

Jess ^^

If you look under the bridge on the left, you can see one of the ADF's legs sticking out, and on the right one of their little heads is popping out, lol. They hide in the craziest places, I put some pics of them up in the amphibian section.

Glad you like em Smile I got the 5gal tank from Pets at Home, and the other tanks are both the same, but one came from B&M, and the other was a Pets at Home 'My First Goldfish' tank!

God, they look like fab' week tanks. I'll have to keep an eye out for them. I could shift Kaito and Smurf across to one of them and finally get my 2 Dwarf Puffers!

You definately could! Pets at Home do 'my first goldfish' tanks with a filter for £14.99 and you can buy a 25w heater from eBay for a tenner. Or B&M do the same tank and a sponge filter for £9.99. I bought the tank dividers from eBay too, I'm such an eBay addict lol.

The lfs I got my new fish from this weekend have a giant freshwater puffer that's about the size of a small dog. It's amazing! Forget dwarf puffers, heh ^^

They look great! Just watch the filtration through those dividers (they are pennplax right?) as the holes are teeny and i've found they don't let the water circulate very well.

If those are the tanks I'm thinking they are (10l) you can get them from home barains for £9.99 with filter, net, and plastic plant.

Glass tanks with a plastic lid.

Bargains, I have two and use one as a hospital tank and one is next to the spawning tank

@ silver: I agree, the tiny holes worry me slightly, not sure if water will circulate well, or the heated water, so what I do is test the water on the side that has no filter, and so far it's come back fine, but I'm testing every other day to check for ammonia spikes etc. Hopefully I'll be able to get away with 25% WC every week but if not, I may change the divider to something with larger holes, or use a tiny sponge filter on both sides to keep it all clean. *pant* such work! Smile

@ Haych: yup I got mine from B&M Bargains and it was £9.99 for that set too. Such a blimmin' bargain, and handy to have a few spare!!!

The easiest way to filter a divided tank is to use a spray bar that sparays over both sides of the tank or place the filter in one corner of the tank and run a pip off the output to the other corner of the tank.
