Post by kizno1 on Mon Jul 05, 2010 6:06 pm

Are they safe to keep fish in? and will they be ok between 28-30C? i want to make a setup for my bn fry where i have 4 on shelfs and they all flow down to the bottom on which will be a sump here it will be pumped back upto the top tank but i need something fairly cheap and to get 4 critter keepers will be about £44 4 pen pals will be £80 and 4 clear seal tanks will be about £80 to where as storage tubs are about £10 but would they work?

Yep, i know many people who have used them as hospital/fry tanks.
I myself have used a storage tub once for quarantining fish.

Apparently the Rubbermaid brand is the best, as others might not hold water aswell and just burst!

IMO, they work really well. Hope that helps

storage tubs work well.. i use 80ltr ones for sumps with heaters in them fine though they do bow outwards when full i've not had one break yet

poundland, pound stretchers, wilkos, au nateral and a lot of the bigger supermarkets have them in stock

Ill have to go to tesco soon see if they have any theres one near me. I might silicone some acrylic at the top in side to brace it then just so it doesnt bow.
