Naughty corner!!

Since Angel was removed when she had dropsy and sadly died the females have been so very naughty...no sisterly love at all anymore...the naughtyest female in the tank is Sen...she's bigger than everyone else.

Firstly it was the flaring at each other, the tail flaring and batting each other and now its the chasing and tail nipping...it gets me down when their beautiful fins and tails get biten.

At the moment the main culprit is in the naughty corner...well a breeding box. All the other girls in the tank just keep swimming past and starring in at her...all the constant arguements and fights for domination have stopped!
Obvisously i cant keep her in there forever so what can i do to stop them being mean to each other?

The dominance fights are only between 3 out of the 8 females in there, Sen, Silvia and India...the others just stay out the way!

You could take them all out re arrange the tank and then add the less dominant ones back then the 3 more dominant ones. There will be a fair amount of fighting for the first few days just to work out whos boss but after that it should calm down.

I was thinking about doing that Kiz, maybe on the weekend, when i take them all out and iv re arranged the tank, put the less dominant in; then how long should i wait before i put the more dominant ones back in?

I would float them in the bag for another 15-20mins after the others go in just to let them settle and evan it out a little. This is the problem i had when i had girls i used to have some nice CTs and DTs but no matter what i did they would just shred eachother :[

They where all getting on like a house on fire before Angel was removed...i will try doing this with them at the weekend, il let Sen out tomorrow to see how she is with the others...we'll see if the naughty corner works for my bettas as it sure dont work for my children!

Well thats not encouraging. Especially the fin nipping.I'd suspect a little bullying, but I thought the idea of a sorority was they got along reasonably well. Good luck and I hope it works!

Well since yesterday when Sen was removed and put in the 'naughty corner' there's been no nipping or chasing **touch wood** she seems very quiet in her quarters at the moment sat on the bottom of the box but not stressed about where she is as no stress lines appearing. Im going to free her later and see what her behavor is like and see if the 'naughty corner' actually worked!

Well i bought a tree stump and put the terracotta pot in the tank and everything the nipping the chasing has stopped!! I cant believe my luck...just to add a few things to the tank and the naughtiness stops is amazing. BUT im very happy now...fins can grow back nicely!

Thats good did the toadstool not help aswell haha
