Aloha :)
Hello there!
Just introducing myself: my name is Thea, I'm 20 (turning 21 on the 17th
) and I live in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.
I'm a new mummy to my baby pineapple Betta, which I'm totally and utterly smitten with.
Thank you so much to Tilly for him, I adore him so much! He constantly follows me when I move around the tank and never flares at my face or anything other than his own reflection, unlike my boyfriend's grumpy one.
I've lovingly named him Dorian due to the name's connotations with the ocean, and playing on a complex he has with his own reflection.
Here are some pictures of my adorable baby:

Thanks!
I'm actually studying photography at uni so I get to have a semi-decent camera, lol
He's quite little so I was surprised how much detail the camera caught since I was just using the standard kit lens.
Thanks again!

Awww, hehe, you know what's crazy? I don't even have a mobile phone!
I used to live in Bermuda before I moved with my family here and started uni. Since I didn't know anyone except my family it didn't really make sense to get one straight away, and I never really got around to doing it.
In a weird way, it's kind of more peaceful and I enjoy being a bit of a homebody so I'm in no rush

Haha, aww, you look as though you have plenty of fish to keep you busy though!
Do you know much about Betta's? I'm getting a 65l tank soon and once it's finished cycling I plan on putting my precious Dorian in there. I want to create a small community tank and I'm trying to research what other friends I could get him. I've been warned not to put female Betta in there despite what some people say about them living peacefully together; I've become so attached to this fish I know I'd be distraught if he even got one little nip. Anything you'd recommend? I'm thinking Corydoras julii (so freaking cute) for the bottom.

Yh they do keep me busy ive got another pair of apisto today and i have about 100bn fry about 75 baby apple snails an 50 cory eggs lol.
Im alright with bettas but better with other fish.
Your right males and females shouldnt be housed together. In a 15G i would go for something like
10 julli corys
1 plec or other small catfish.
10 galaxy rasbora or ember tetra
1 male betta

Hi Thea, hope you find everything you need here. Dorian is gorgeous, congrats. I like the play on his name and reflection, I wrote a short story abour Dorian Gray when I was at college ^^
I'm eyeing up one some of Tilly's pineapples at the moment, they're so yummy!
I live quite close to St A's, I actually used to live in Watford so I know the area pretty well. If you ever need to know of any reputable lfs's, I can help you out!
Have a good Saturday night
PS. For community betta tanks, one of my bettas lives with 4 African Dwarf Frogs. They all get along fine and the frogs themselves are brilliant fun.

Thanks Jessie!
And Kizno!
Regarding LFS, the only one I can think of is Maidenhead (been doing my research, lol) - I've never been there before since I've only lived in the area a couple of years and don't drive
I think it's accessible by bus and I have friends who drive so that's no biggie. Do you know if Notcutts do tropical fish?
Regarding the compatible fish, the galaxy rasbora are really cute too. I've read a lot about danios being compatible, is that true? I'm only asking since I've read certain things like larger tetras being compatible but some people have had scenarios where they actually ended up being nippers. I wouldn't want to make the same mistake with a different species of fish :/ I've also thought about having dwarf cories since they tend to be mid-swimmers and their muted colours would mean that Dorian gets to remain the real charmer amongst them.
Plus, they're totally cute too. It'll be like catfish overload on top of the Corydoras julii, but I don't think I'd mind! Also, does anyone know if the different species of dwarf cories (i.e. hastatus, habrosus and pygmaeus) shoal together?
Sorry for all the questions

Some people will say danios will be fine but they are subtropical fish and wont like the higher tropical temps bettas like. Galaxy rasbora are really nice and stay small so they should work well. The diffrent types of pygmy corys will shoal but its best alteast 4 of 1 type.
6 julli corys
6 pygmy corys
10 galaxy rasbora or ember tetra
1 male betta
that looks good IMO. Panda corys are really nice aswell i have 8 and there really active. hatchets might work aswell they stay at the surface. Marble hatchets are the nicest imo.

Oh my, the hatchets made me giggle, lol, I don't think I've seen anything like that (you can tell I'm a newbie to the tropical fish game).
I love the fact that the small cories will shoal, I think that definitely is something I want to consider now. Thanks!!

Hi Thea, nice to see a new face round here!
Dorian is just gorgeous, love all your photos of him but the betta face with or without a flare is just so amazingly gorgeous so im loving the photos of Dorian's face especially with the flare.
Iv also looked at Tilly's pineapple's but unfortunately i just cant house anymore betta's as iv already 5 tanks up and running with 3 males in separate tanks and 8 females in my 100 litre tank, also 2 male HMPK's that are arriving on wednesday.
Pineapples are beautiful though

Ive got 6 hatchets i really like them. My 6 pygmy corys love to swim mid tank all together its funny to watch. If i was you i would go for a big shoal of pygmys rather than 2 different types so
12 pygmy corys
10 galaxy rasbora or ember tetra
1 male betta

Re: Aloha :)
Thank you so much, Natalie ((:
I was so happy when I stumbled across her fish, I've been looking so long for one that really really appealed to me. It seems quite difficult to locate Betta breeders in the UK. If I had the equipment I would definitely consider going ahead and giving it a go.
I totally adore the fish in your avatar :D
And Kizno, would this combination work?:
6 Corydoras pygmaeus
6 Corydoras hastatus
6 Corydoras julii
1 male Betta
Thanks!

What are the dimensions of the tank? if its quite a long tank then that stocking looks fine to me.

Re: Aloha :)
According to the seller it's: 51.8cm x 39cm x 46cm
So it's rather square. Perhaps that set-up doesn't quite work then? ):

That should be fine. The tank is fairly long and wide and since all the types of pygmys are only small and will swim in the bottom and middle sections of the tank it should be fine
