Re: Aloha :)
Ohh, I switched mine with one of his male dragon plakats. I really hadn't done my research properly
and I realised that I couldn't provide them (at this point in time) an adequate home due to their dominant nature - ideally a sorority tank to spread out the bullying. Feel really silly, but I wouldn't feel right compromising their wellbeing.

Oh, I suppose I didn't answer the real question, lol - he arrived safe and sound just after 8am this morning. He's quite shy compared to Dorian, but I think he just needs time to settle. Any action in/around the tank and Dorian has to be there checking it out without fail every time lol, whereas the other boy spends most of the time in the plants. Think I should just give him time to adjust.
Since he seems quite shy and non-aggressive (took him a while to puff up at his own reflection) I might add some shrimp for company/interest/entertainment once I've cycled his 26l aquarium.

Cherry shrimp would work well and are fairly colourful. Or ADFs would work or a shoal of 6 pygmy corys.

Re: Aloha :)
Haha, yeah! The more I've been watching this fish (my brother has named him Perry, lmao) the more I realise how shy and timid he is. Perry spends most of his time hidden behind the plants and is just skittish about everything that happens inside or close to the tank. I think the shrimp will be more than fine, provided with plenty of hiding spaces also
I double-checked with the seller and he's confident (out of his own experience) that they'd be more than suited to an aquarium with a milder betta

Well, I'm getting a 26l and I didn't want to overstock it. Not sure how much I can get in. I've read that shrimp produce little waste and have extremely minimal effect on the bioload

Yh shrimps make bearly any waste. The only problem is some breed like crazy. And in higher temps like a betta needs they will breed alot more often than at lower temps.

Hmm, would it be mean to let the betta take care of it? >_<

I was checking out these guys: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] since you get three different varieties/colours. I messaged the seller to see if he sold them in smaller numbers (i.e. 2 of each colour) and he said he'd be more than happy to do so. What do you think?

Re: Aloha :)
Ok, 2 questions:
1) Is it ethical to let the betta eat baby shrimp if the shrimp do choose to procreate? lol
2) Any other compatible tank mates at that size (26l) without overstocking?

Re: Aloha :)
IMO i think its fine. Its up to you and what you think really. Its good food for them. same as some people feed fry still with there yolk sacs to other fish because its some of the best foods for them. But like i said its just up to your views and if you want to do it or not.
I wouldnt add anything else with the shrimps because of how much they breed. You wont really get overstocked because they make so little waste but if you have them plus other fish then you might get overrun with baby shrimp. If you left out the shrimp 6 pygmy corys would work fine IMO.

Oh, that's much better! I think pygmy corys would be much more enjoyable for him to watch, they're so cute!

Found an eBayer selling them in groups of 6 if you're interested:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
There's also the Corydoras habrosus and Corydoras hastatus that make up the dwarf corydoras species
