royal blue butterfly

Post by incognito on Fri Jul 16, 2010 11:02 pm

am i asking reasonable price?

ebay number 200496902845

can anyone find similar on aquabid?

I find them near impossible to get and when i have they've been nabbed by close friends very fast!

honest opinions are really appreciated btw! I'd love to sell him for £20 but he wasn't cheap regardless of importing.

what do you think he's worth paying for as the show import he is.. I do prefer honest replies from people who aren't intending to bid on him btw

He's beautiful Smile

I rarely spend alot on fish, but he is beautiful and as you say a desirable fishy, and £25 starting price to someone seriously into breeding from show quality stock isn't over the top really.

There were similar fish to him on ebay a while back which sold for £30-35 if I remember correctly!

thanks hun.. i do want genuine opinions

he's a gorgeous boy and i've let too many similar go for cost and always regretted, hence doing auction this time.

I've also seen some bad fish going for huge prices and i just cringed.. all comments are a help wether complimentary or not.

As I'm in the States I'm did a rough conversion to $'s @3$=2lbs. I've seen many go at your starting bid and no one has to buy it now. Unless they just have the desire to do so! Since you stared at 25llbs. you will accept the minimum obviously, but I think he'll go between at least, He is a fantastic looking specimen I think! Let the bidding begin!

I hope i didn't come across as negative, I'm sure you will have bidders! He is lovely and worth the money for someone into the hobby (especially for people who only have places like ebay to buy nice fish from if their local stores are rubbishy).

The start price is reasonable - like you say others have had higher prices and the fish have not been anywhere near as good (he's lovely and chunky isn't he Love )

silver...
not at all hun.. thank you for your reply

I want honest opinions and you just gave one! thanks!!

and f. banks.. thank you for your input too... you're in the us, can you find similar to compare him to?

importing here is extortionate compared to USA unfortunatley, we pay on average 3 times what it costs to US

I hope to change that someday lol

I'm fairly new to the computer and Betta world, but I'm thinking a lot of the same ones are available around the world looking at the symbols. Does your Aquabid site show in pounds!

I found a local lfs own by Thai's and import them from Thailand. I only paid $5.00 + 10% sales tax for each for my two c/t's. I don't know if the experienced breeder would consider them of breeding quality, but I"m happy
with both! A lot better than the large pet stores that order from betta mills!

nah aquabid still in $ and we have to convert

The import side is the pricey bit here Sad

Our customs like their taxes to say the least! £70 per shipment inspection fee nevermind import taxes etc. Sad

got pic's of your bargain babies? I bet they're well up there for value if thai owned lfs!

lucky you!! lol

i need to move to either thailand or the US!! better weather too if i plan carefully!

Remember the old saying, "The grass isn't greener on the other side!"

I've been meaning to contact a transhipper to see what the actual cost is just for grins! I can't afford what I have at the moment as I'm unemployed and waiting to start school fall quarter.

Incognito-- I took a gander at Aquabid from the US and happy to report I didn't
see any blues that compared to yours. I even reviewed my album created from Aquabid (70 or so) and nothing close. Funny I was just thinking yesterday it would great to have a H/M in something blue!

As Tilly said, we've bought in quite a few Butterfly HMs over the years and they have all cost us £15 each so I don't feel we would pay more.

He's a gorgeous boy but does have some bleeding into his anal fin which I think from a breeding point of view would be undesirable.

Having said that we have paid stupid money before on a different type of Betta which in hindsight I wouldn't do again LOL

Yep...here's some pics of my £15 boys. I got the last two from SQBettas (Steve) but he doesn't import anymore. The first two Tilly sourced for me.

I know Steve used to get some gorgeous emerald green Butterfly HMs. I nearly went for one but then chose Taro instead. Not sure what supplier he imported them from though.

Was shame when he stopped cos he had some real beauties in.

I've not heard anything for quite a while about Kevin.

Weren't there family health problems a while ago which is why he stopped?
