which would be better?
I have a ten gallon currently housing my two goldfish Spaz and Bubbles( which I have to rehome soon
)
So I was thinking of either getting a male betta some neons and two ADF's Or starting a betta sorority.
I have everything I need other than a test kit and Hose to do water changes and a heater which will all be bought before I rehome the Goldfish. I have water conditioner with stresscoat, melafix ( just in case), a good filter, a hood, plants, three types of food( flakes, pellets and sundried shimp) a brine shrimp net ( easier on the fish).
Is there anything else I need? and which idea is better?

Re: which would be better?
I would go for a male plus others because IME females can be a little funny to keep some will get along in 10G others wont get along in tanks alot bigger. I had a 30g with 9 females and they would fight none stop no matter what i did so i sold them
If you go for a male bettas the temp will need to be about 28C
I would go for something like
1 betta
6 rummy nose tetra (they do better with the higher temps than neons)
2 ADF But they have been known to latch onto bettas long fins so 8 pygmy corys might work better.

Re: which would be better?
My problem with bettas and ADF's is the opposite the bettas bully the frogs. the frogs are totally non aggressive IME so as long as they have places to hide it should be fine.
Are there any other high temp tetras? I like a lot of color
or even non tetra but gentle so they wont mess with his fins. maybe zebra danios or something? Just throwing out Ideas lol

Re: which would be better?
Zebra danios will hate the high temps they are sub tropical and like temps between 18-22C. 8 galaxy rasbora or ember tetra would work or 6 Cardinal Tetra They look alot like neons but the red line goes the whole way down its body and they do better in higher temps.

Re: which would be better?
In my opinion.....
I've had some rummy nose tetras and danios with females, they bit my females to peices, only god knows what they'd do to a males tail!!! Personally with a male, I'd keep it alone, i think they do better alone, IME when i kept a male in a community tank, it hated company & consistantly chased everything in the tank.
I have females bettas in a 100litre at the moment, i have 10 & they do fine, they have an african butterfly fish and two koolie loaches in there somewhere to keep company.
I personally prefer to keep betta sororities to just bettas, i dont like mixing alot of fish with them, as if I need to treat or keep water certain ways it can all evolve around my bettas.
You can have lots of colour if you get some colourful females. If you had females, you could maybe add a platy or couple guppies....but not with a male!!

Re: which would be better?
Not really you need atleast 6 of each IMHO And 2 lots of 6 would overstock your tank.
I think
1 Betta
6 Cardinal tetra
2 ADFs
would be about it for 10G

Re: which would be better?
well it is only a ten gallon tank and I dont have the money to plant it as well as they need. and my tank will look almost empty with just one betta. i want to do a sorority but they may also fight so idk
which would be better for the fish and have the least chance of anyone getting hurt?

Did you see the rummynose tetra actually nipping them? rummy nose tetra dont normally nip but danios are extremely nippy and wont like the temp. It just depends on the male whether it will work or not. Ive had some that wont live with other fish and others that dont care what there with at all. I
You probably already no but if you dont the loaches will do do best in a group of 6+ they are shoaling fish so the more the better.

What do you mean which fish wouldnt get hurt in with the bettas? Most bettas will live with bottom dwellers with no problems Mid dwellers can be a bit riskier but they can still work.

Re: which would be better?
It depends how u go about it, everytime I add a female I rearrange the tank, the more you have the less the aggression. I went down to 5 once & they still got on together, although they say the minimum is 6.
I never had a problem with girls fighting.

Re: which would be better?
But your tanks alot bigger. In a 10G i think a male would be a better option because unless extremely heavy planting there could be alot of aggression.

Re: which would be better?
Would 6 even work in a ten gallon? And they will all be added at the same time so no territory problems. And i know to buy the young and active ones
BTW its 10 US gallons idk how many litres that is.

Re: which would be better?
6 would be way to many IMHO in a 10US G your going to be pushing your luck with 4-5 females. I would go for a male TBH.
