Magnetic algae removers
Im thinking of buying a magnetic algae remover and wondered if anyone else has used one before or uses one and which one to recommend?

Ive got one. I dont use it much but its good for just giving the glass a little wipe when your doing a WC. The only problem is that it all just goes back into the water so makes the water look messy but then anyway you clean it off will do that. There worth the money IMO there alot easier than using a tooth brush or something like that. I dont think it matters which brand there all the same really.

Thanks Kiz, im thinking about buying one as its a quick fix until the weekly water change...its growing back pretty fast in the female sorority...gets on my nerves! But its lasted a while since i cleaned the tank with milton so cant really complain.

Yh they are alot easier than scrubbing it or emptying the tank. What is it thats growing on the sides? ive never had algae in my tank but my apisto tank always gets little brown bits on the glass which come of easily with this.

Thats what it is the brown stuff just spots on in different random places, it doesnt look very nice thats what really bothers me,lol! I tend to use a sponge or my fingers BUT i have very sensitive skin that cracks when its been in water! So anything to prevent both things would be fab!

I get that alot in my 21G i dont know why but it grown all over the wood aswell. Ive managed to top it for now i took all the wood and caves out scrubbed and boiled them cleaned the glass did a 75% water changes and there hasnt been any since and that was about 1 month ago. A SMALL bn might do the job. I say small because the small ones eat alot more of the glass and eat alot more algae but as they got older they get alot more lazy and prefer just to eat food given to them. The baby BNs in my tank are always on the glass and eating loads where as the adults will just hide and wait till the food goes in. There also doing a really good job and smoothing my coconut caves because there 100+ they are chomping through the caves and its alot smoother than i managed to get it.

They are very good. I do it and let the muck settle and then hoover up whatever the filter didn't remove.
Pain when you get a tiny piece of gravel stuck under it though, has glass scratches from that
I use them in my puffer tanks - god knows i'd rather have my fingers still attached than go in with an algae sponge
