Evaporation?

Post by Nataliey on Sun Aug 01, 2010 7:21 pm

My tank water in my biggest tank keeps disappearing it doesnt happen in any of my other tanks just that one!
When i went away for a week the water was quite close to the top of the tank but when i got back i was shocked to see it was only half full where did it go. There's no leaks or anything and firstly i thought it was the heat from the lights but the lights had been off all week so not that! Or is it the weather all though my livingroom is the coolest part of the house so im confused.
Is it evaporation or have i got very thirsty fish, lol!

Please guys help me make sense of this before it drives me nuts banghead pullhair

What temp has the tank been? are there any big gaps in the lid? are you sure its not leaking out from the bottom and going behind the tank? to be loosing 1/2 the water seems like alot. In a week in my 30G i only loose about 5mm of water and the tank has been as high a 32C recently. If you can find a problem then you could get a condensation tray but drill a few holes through it and put that under the lid to hold some water in.

My temp is 28C, my lid doesnt fit properly actually as my other half did try to fit but chopped the end of his thumb with a knife, so now told him not to bother and leave it. So the lid is kinda on but not!
Definately no leaks checked time and time before.

Thanks Kiz il try that. thumbup

I remember than now. I think the best way to go would be a condensation tray then just make sure you drill some holes in it otherwise the bettas wont be able to get air.
