Converting Filter
I'm thinking of trading out my under gravel filter for a more standard one. If I were to put the new media insert under the existing plate would it accelerate the cycle. Any advantage or disadvantage to this idea?

Hi
You could put a small amount of the gravel into the canister of the new filter. The gravel is where the good bacteria are held in under gravel filters

I'll keep that in mind when I select a new one. Thanks for the lightening fast response!

Re: Converting Filter
No probs:)
You could maybe add the gravel to the filter and then run the new one along with the UG for a month. That way it'll give the new filter time to mature
