spray bar adaptation?

spray bar adaptation?
Okay, I have an issue. Sort of. I want to make a spray bar for my barracks as I"m tired of using bubblers to move the surface of the far side of the tank so it doesn't get that icky scum on it. The tank has 4 sections that I've made myself with good ol' plastic canvas. I have a Tetra Whisper power filter on the tank and it sucks out of one section and blows back into the next one. However, the output is WAY too fast for my bettas. I thought about doing the plastic bottle trick, but I'd have to cut down the dividers and I'm afraid I'll risk jumpers then. Any ideas? I"ve also tried adding another sponge to the output, and while this DOES work, it causes the water level in the canister to overflow at times...so I"d rather not do that if I can.

What size is your tank and is that the bio-bag filter?

It's a 10gal. And yeah, it's the bio-bag kind. So it has a spout that drops the water back into the tank like a water fall. I've fixed the 5.5gal one so that my son's fish isn't blown all over the place, but I'm a little lost as to how to do it with the canvas dividers.

Mines a 10gl. also. I have an aquaclear filter thats similar to the one you are using. I also acquirred what I believe to be an older version Tetra Whisper filter Bio-bag. Back to the aquaclear for a moment.
I found a small piece of black plastic thin mesh with openings of 1/4". I cut a strip that fit the chamber that houses the rectangular sponge, carbon packet and the the ammonia packet. I tuck one end between the packets and front side of the chamber. Then I laid the mesh along where the water flows and rolled it under where the water returns. This greatly reduced the pouring effect significantly. My C/T couldn't barely swim and used to ride the current almost a third of the way across the tank! He's still fairly small
and it doesn't effect him unless hes right up close
Let me know the nomenclature or model and I'll see what I can devise for us as I need to do mine.
This method doesn't allow the chamber to back up and overflow. At least not so far and its been going for around fifty hours. I'll be working on it during the day tomorrow and will update when completed.

Im not sure i understand most of the post lol but you can link a bit of pipe onto the output of the filter and rum the pipe to the other silde of the tank so waters going through all the sections

The pump should be on the floor but i couldnt find a bit of pipe big enough.

Kizno, that would work if I had a fluval type filter with a jet-like output but my filter looks like this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I"ve fixed the undivided tank by using a water bottle like this method. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
But I'm not sure how to do that with the bigger tank that has dividers without cutting down the dividers to allow the water bottle to sit on/through them as the out spout of the filter sits about 10cm or more down in the tank.

You could get like a bit of guttering and silicone it under the output at a slight slope and seal of the end near the filter so it run down the pipe but you would probably have to cut some divider of for that aswell. Or you could link a bit of pipe from the intake of the filter to the other side of the tank but that will take alot of power of the filter sucking it all that way but you could cut the back corners out the dividers and have the pipe running from the filter intake down the back wall of the tank then along the bottom across to the other side of the tank. Does that make scene?
